Pīlā Bīja

is an Earth Keeper, a Chiku Mirai Growth Project. Built from recycled silicone circuits their skin is a thick and fertile seedbed interspersed with photovoltaic solar cells and various seeds. Their bones are root stimulators that send a mild current through the lattice-like skin to stimulate the seedlings growth. For four hours per day Kiirō sits quietly in meditation and hums a tune until their body begins to glow, indicating that they are fully recharged. This power is a pleasing mechanism for bonding with strangers, but must not be misused. Pīlā is on a mission. Encoded in their Being is the hologram of completion. They need water to germinate seeds, and it hasn’t rained for 912 days.
